Bundesverband für soziales Mentoring: Adding functionality to corporate branding
In my most recent project, I designed and developed a comprehensive multi-page WordPress website for the Bundesverband soziales Mentoring e.V., the umbrella organisation for non-profits in Germany that organise and strengthen social mentoring. The new website I built provides structured information and makes it possible for visitors to seek membership or become a supporting partner.
Client Consultation and Proposal Development
I initiated the project by meeting with the client to thoroughly understand their objectives and requirements. This involved studying their prepared sitemap and content, analysing their existing one-pager website, and familiarising myself with their corporate design elements. Based on the gathered information, I came up with a development plan for the website that proposed custom technical solutions to meet the requirements, while taking into account my client’s time and budget restraints.
Staging Environment Setup
I set up a staging environment within the client’s existing infrastructure to develop the site offline, ensuring minimal disruption to their current operations.
Design and Development
With attention to detail, I designed the main pages and secondary pages of the website, ensuring alignment with the client’s corporate branding. I selected and resourced image material adhering to client specifications. Ensuring the website was fully responsive on mobile devices required thorough testing and adjustments.
Feature Integration and Customisation
I built the homepage, main menu, and all required pages and templates using the Divi theme, integrating functionalities such as mapping, events, blog, forms, and social media links. To meet my client’s specific needs, I customised the site using custom CSS.
Plugin Management and Issue Resolution
I researched and installed various plugins to enhance the site’s functionality, and effectively communicated with customer support to resolve issues. I successfully implemented a calendar showing upcoming events and a filterable map showing participating projects.
Finalization and Client Training
Once the client approved the staging site, I manually migrated it to the production site. I conducted a final meeting to train the client on using WordPress, Divi, and the installed plugins, empowering them to manage content independently.
