Education Manager and Project Manager at Berlin Kreativ Kollektiv

From 2017 until 2020, I served as a board member for the non-profit organisation Berlin Kreativ Kollektiv (BKK), dedicated to supporting Berlin’s small creative business owners. Our mission was to enhance their visibility, provide education and resources, and represent the community’s interests. Being involved in the BKK has given me the opportunity to learn an incredible amount and to connect with countless amazing creatives. I honed a range of skills, including project management, education, event coordination, stakeholder engagement, research, policy advocacy, content creation, team leadership, and strategic planning.

Project Management and Event Coordination
As Education Manager and later Project Manager, I was responsible for developing content and attracting speakers and experts for two major conferences, along with multiple pop-up shops, workshops, and talks. I collaborated with various stakeholders, including creatives, speakers, and experts, to ensure successful event outcomes.

Funding and Research Initiatives
My colleague Emma Wood and I successfully secured funding from Etsy for the Maker Cities research project, which aimed to identify the multi-national independent creative community in Berlin, the challenges they face,
and possible strategies for overcoming them.

Reporting and Strategic Recommendations
After careful analysis of the data we gathered, we were able to provide actionable recommendations. The project led to improved connections with policymakers, and it’s  concluding report contains our informed conclusions on how local institutions can best support the Maker community.

Workshop and Event Development
In cooperation with local government branches, Emma and I developed a series of workshops and events aimed at providing coaching and resources to small creative business owners. We had full ownership over the content for these events and were able to provide valuable resources to the creative community.

Team Leadership and Organisational Impact
I am very proud of what we have achieved as a small team of dedicated women at BKK. I played a key role in organising events and publications that received enthusiastic responses from our community members. Being able to engage with and positively impact local makers in this way was incredibly rewarding.

Immer wieder gerne!
